Dam Duck Hunts
In
1951 the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission purchased 21,000 acres
along the Black River near Brookings. The Henry Quallmalz Lumber
and Mfg. Co., which was organized in 1890 at Brookings, once owned
a large portion of this land.
The
Black River Bottoms serves as a natural waterfowl pathway between
the Ozarks and Crowley's Ridge. Black River meets the edge of the
Ozarks at Pocahontas.
Dave
Donaldson W.M.A. is the largest in the state next to Bayou Meto.

In
1970 plans were made by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to
construct Lake Ashgaugh, a 525-acre reservoir near Delaplaine and
Brookings. The lake serves as a waterfowl rest area.
